Breast Augmentation
Among gender reassignment surgeries, breast augmentation for trans women is one of the surgeries that are performed to provide a feminine appearance for the person. There are differences between the biological forms of the male chest and the female chest. The first step is to prepare the patient for breast augmentation by starting hormone therapy (estrogen therapy). At least 1 month before the surgery, the patient must stop hormone therapy. Smokers have to quit smoking. If the patient is taking aspirin, they must stop taking it 1 week before the surgery. They have stop eating any food and drinking any fluids 6-7 hours before the surgery. The size and type of the implants to be used are decided based on the patient’s breast base width, height, weight, soft tissue thickness, and preoperative asymmetries. This surgery will take 1-2.5 hours and can be performed under general anesthesia. After the surgery, the patient is required to use compression garments and a sports bra for 1 month. They are not allowed to lift heavy things or swim for 1 month.
